Sofia Azure vs Quebec Cups & Saucers: Which Set to Pick?

Quick answer

Choose the Sofia Azure set of 6 if you regularly serve a full table and want a calm, solid azure look; choose the Quebec set of 4 if you need a smaller, budget-friendly set with a modern line pattern and slightly larger 250 ml cups.

Set size and capacity: match the set to your table

The first practical difference is how many people you usually serve. Sofia Azure gives you six cups and six saucers, while Quebec gives you four of each. That changes not just the number of pieces but how often you run the dishwasher and whether you can host without borrowing mugs.

Capacity matters for what you drink. Sofia Azure cups hold 220 ml, which suits espresso, tea, or a modest coffee. Quebec cups hold 250 ml, giving a little more room for a longer coffee or a generous tea serving. Neither set lists a cup height or width, so if cabinet clearance is tight, check the saucer diameter as a rough guide to the footprint.

Style and care: solid azure vs modern line decal

Sofia Azure is undecorated in a solid azure color, part of Ćmielów’s Classic Line. That plain finish makes it easy to mix with white plates or patterned serving pieces, and it hides minor tea stains less obviously than a bright white interior might. Quebec uses a ceramic decal decoration with a modern line pattern, which adds visual interest but may feel busier next to heavily patterned dinnerware.

Both sets are microwave and dishwasher safe, so daily reheating and cleanup are equally convenient. The real trade-off is aesthetic: solid color is more flexible across table settings, while the line decal gives a more contemporary, design-led look.

Saucer size and price per piece

Sofia Azure saucers measure 15.7 cm in diameter, while Quebec saucers are 16.5 cm. The Quebec saucer is slightly larger, which can feel more stable under a 250 ml cup but takes up a bit more shelf or cabinet space. Neither set lists the cup diameter, so saucer size is the best available proxy for the set’s overall footprint.

At catalog prices, Sofia Azure is USD 26.60 for 12 pieces (about USD 2.22 per piece), and Quebec is USD 11.16 for 8 pieces (about USD 1.40 per piece). Quebec costs less per piece, but Sofia Azure spreads the cost across six place settings. If you need six matching settings, buying two Quebec sets would give you eight cups and saucers for USD 22.32, which is cheaper but leaves you with two different set identities if the decal pattern matters to you.

Key trade-offs to decide

• Number of place settings: Sofia Azure covers six people in one purchase; Quebec covers four. If you regularly host more than four, Sofia Azure avoids buying a second set or mixing patterns. Count your typical guest number before choosing; a second Quebec set may cost less but changes the look.
• Cup capacity: Quebec cups hold 250 ml versus 220 ml for Sofia Azure. Choose Quebec if you prefer a larger morning coffee or tea; choose Sofia Azure if you want a more compact cup for espresso or controlled portions.
• Style flexibility: Sofia Azure’s solid azure finish blends with many table settings and hides minor stains; Quebec’s line decal adds a modern focal point but may compete with patterned plates. If you already own patterned dinnerware, solid azure is the safer match.
• Budget per piece: Quebec costs about USD 1.40 per piece versus USD 2.22 for Sofia Azure. However, Sofia Azure’s six settings may replace the need for a second set. Compare total cost for the number of settings you actually need, not just the sticker price.
